Week 34 - 36 April 29, 2015 May 18, 2015

Topic(s): Advanced Aspects of Film Making Time: 5 - 10 days

Objective: Students will comprehend the basics of creating and editing music and sounds on their computers.

Instructional focus: Students will be able to create sounds in GarageBand and iMovie on their laptop and desktop computers.

Bell Ringer: Finish last week's film project or the previous days project(s).


Monday  - Wednesday -Students should be creating storyboards and scripts for their next films.

Thursday - Friday - start shooting "Semester Ending Project(s)".

Topic - YOU PICK!.


Assignment: Students are to create a film about a topic of their choosing.

Film can be several short one minute films or a longer film up to 5 minutes!

Should be edited in iMovie with sound, music and good camera work!



Week 29 - March 16 - 20, 2015

Topic(s): Advanced Aspects of Film Making Time: 5 - 10 days

Objective: Students will comprehend the basics of creating and editing music and sounds on their computers.

Instructional focus: Students will be able to create sounds in GarageBand and iMovie on their laptop and desktop computers.

Bell Ringer: Finish last week's design project or the previous days project(s).


Monday  - Students should be creating storyboards and scripts for their next films. This class can get loud due to collaboration.

Tuesday - Friday - start shooting music related films.

Topic - Musical, Related to Music, or Sound F/X. Music video, real singing, lip sync....

Direct Instruction:

The teacher will show students how to use advanced features in GarageBand, iMovie, sound and special effects (with the goal of creating professional sounding audio and music.

1. Assignment: Student's are to create two - 2 minute soundtracks for their films. These can be songs or just background tracks for their films.

There is no theme or concept for this project - you get to pick!!! If you need an idea please email Mr. Moore.

Add this music to an existing film you have done and see if it helps!

These songs will be turned in later this week. We will be working with sound and audio the rest of this week.

Time: 2 - 3 minutes long.

Week 23 - February 2, 2015

Topic(s): Advanced Aspects of Film Making Time: 5 - 10 days

Objective: Students will comprehend the basics of creating and editing a film on their computers.

Instructional focus: Students will be able to create simple movie on their laptop and desktop computers.

Bell Ringer: Finish last week's design project or the previous days project(s).


Sometime this week we are going to do PARCC Practice!

We are going to read, analyse and highlight the main points of an article on Technology in Film: Technology in Film

Goal: to find the main points using highlighter.

Written: Create a short summary of the article.

Discuss: the main points of the article.

Turn in: Your summary and highlighted article.


Direct Instruction:

The teacher will show students how to use advanced features in iMovie, sound and special effects.

1. Assignment: Student's are to a script and storyboard for their next film project. Students need to have a type written script and a well done storyboard to show off their ability to pre-plan their next project.

There is no theme or concept for this project - you get to pick!!! If you need an idea please email Mr. Moore.

Week 22 - Jan. 26, 2015

Topic(s): Advanced Aspects of Film Making Time: 5 - 12 days

Objective: Students will comprehend the basics of creating and editing a film on their computers.

Instructional focus: Students will be able to create simple movie on their laptop and desktop computers.

Bell Ringer: Finish last week's design project or the previous days project(s).

Direct Instruction:

The teacher will show students how to use advanced features in iMovie, sound and special effects.

1. Assignment: Student's are to create films that use some sort of special effect. This can be a green screen, chroma key images, iMovie special effect, "old school" special effect or some type of film effect that either should not or cannot happen in the real world.

Examples of special effects?

Early days - Models

Reverse camera

Software effects

Use green screen and 3D in some scenes.

Monday - Tuesday - Present storyboards and ideas to the class.

Monday - Friday - begin filming projects!


Week 17 - December 8, 2014

Bell Ringer: Finish last week's design project or the previous days project(s).

Monday - Students are finishing editing their Commercials AND They are making a list of top ten films they like in PAGES. (Each Film should have an image and one sentence why they like the film. School appropriate!)


Assignment this week: Commercial for a Product. Think up some ideas. Checking progress this Monday!

Monday - Friday Commercial Project  - Students should be editing commerical project or making storyboards.


Create two - one minute commercials for a product or 3 - thirty second commericals for a product.

The product can be:  made up, something real, a service, game system, food, just about anything you can think up (school appropriate).

This will be due -Friday of this week.





Week 11- October 20, 2014

Monday - Thursday - Working with a partner (or solo) come up with a story idea for a short film of a school related topic. Homework, lunch, classes, tardies, rules, sports, clubs, activities... etc.


Wednesday - Thursday - Start Shooting film. Tips on creating good films.

I will be grading you on:

Lighting
Sound
Quality of scenes
Quality of film making

2 minutes or less

Monday - Wednesday Finish Computer Rollout. Do software update from Self Service. The Adobe Creative Suite.  Go over grading system, Fee's, seating chart... etc.

Tuesday - Wednesday - Finish and present 1 minute story idea. Something that can be filmed. Include as much detail as possible.


Thursday - Set up Doc with software - Cinema 4d, GarageBand, iMovie, Photoshop.

Friday - Show student created work. Show student films from previous years.
