Students requesting to go home for medical issues need to be assessed by the nurse. Parents will be contacted directly by the Nurse if medically necessary to go home. Students being sent home by the Nurse, must be picked up in the health office and signed out in attendance office.
Guidelines for students with illness are:
All students with fever of 100.0 degrees or greater must stay home until fever free for 24 hrs. without taking fever reducing medication like aspirin, Tylenol or ibuprofen. Students must check in the the nurse in the health office for temperature check when returning to school.
If your child's medical condiition changes status please notify the health office so that their condition is documented.
District Policy states that students are not allowed to carry their medication and self-medicate at school. All medication must be brought in the original container to the health office. Parents must fill out a permission form to administer medication in the health office. Forms are online.
Antibitiotics and similar medications ordered 1-3 times daily can usually be given at home. Medications given 4 times a day can be given at lunch if the original container is received in the health office and parent permission form is filled out.
Inhalers and Epi-pens are allowed to be carried by students only after the Physician approves on the Prescription Medication form that must be signed by the Physician and parent. These forms must be on file in the health office and must be done yearly.
If you have any questions or concerns please contact the nurse at the above number. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping your students safe and healthy.
